Bug description

Under Py_GIL_DISABLED, setiter_len() reads so->used non-atomically while concurrent set mutations update it atomically.

This triggers a data race detectable by TSAN when one thread repeatedly calls iterator.__length_hint__() while another mutates the same set

Bắt đầu từ đâu

  1. Đọc hết issue, rồi đọc hướng dẫn đóng góp của dự án.

  3. Fork repository và làm thay đổi trên một nhánh.

Hướng nghiên cứu

Bắt đầu trong Objects/setobject.c tại setiter_len(), khoảng dòng 1059, sau đó so sánh với cập nhật nguyên tử trong set_discard_entry(), khoảng dòng 594. Chạy script tsan_setiter_len_race.py được cung cấp bằng bản build ThreadSanitizer có free-threading; hoàn tất khi workload đồng thời gồm gợi ý độ dài và đột biến set không còn báo cáo race này.
