https://github.com/ducha-aiki/pixelstitch/issues/1#issuecomment-2269974339
## Versions
Affected matplotlib versions are 3.5-3.9
Affected jupyer versions are:
- classical notebook <7
- jupyter lab 4.2.4
```bash
python -c "import sys; print('\n',sys.version); import ipympl; print('ipympl version:', ipympl.__version__)" && jupyter --version && jupyter nbextension list && jupyter labextension list
Research direction
Start by reproducing the click-handler failure with the pixelstitch package and the classical Notebook and JupyterLab versions listed in the issue. Compare the affected matplotlib 3.5–3.9 environments and verify that clicks produce the expected interaction in each supported environment.
