Hello everyone

There is an issue from several months ago in mintupdate; $DISPLAY isn't propagated any more inside the SimpleAPTClient used: https://github.com/linuxmint/mintupdate/issues/918

This breaks e.g. apt-listchanges since it depends on $DISPLAY to open a separate window above mintupdate. Without $DISPLAY, apt-listchanges falls back to console and the update progress freezes. You have to open the detailed console view, quit the console pager that apt-listchanges opened and then confirm the prompt if installation should be continued.

This is currently reproducible on aptkit 1.0.4 and mintupdate 7.0.7.1. I first noticed it, AFAIR, after upgrading to Mint 22 or 22.1.

Using the git pickaxe I couldn't find anything about $DISPLAY in this repo. As I'm not familiar with both projects and on limited free time, I beg your pardon that I cannot provide more specific details. If I can do anything specific to help to diagnose and correct this, please let me know.
