Favorites aren't displayed if you have a document open in xreader.

Steps to reproduce
  1. mark a PDF file as a favorite
  2. open xreader
  3. look in the menu bar under file: favorites are visible
  4. open a PDF file in xreader
  5. look in the menu bar under file: favorites aren't visible anymore

Favorites should always be visible
