Bug description

Files such as PDFs often open in full-screen mode unintentionally. Using just the mouse, there’s no way to exit full-screen mode; you have to press the ESC key. For someone who rarely uses the physical keyboard to navigate the desktop, this is extremely annoying!

Steps to reproduce

I haven't figured out how to trigger it intentionally yet. Right now, it seems to happen randomly.

Expected behavior

The default view is retained for every document that is opened. This means that whenever a document is opened, it is not in full-screen mode and the toolbar is visible.

Additional information

All I can say is that it has nothing to do with when the document was last viewed. However, I've also observed this behavior on other desktop computers running Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.3.

Start by reproducing the issue with PDFs on Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.3 using Xreader 4.6.3, since the report says the behavior is random and has no reliable trigger. Trace the document-opening and full-screen state handling, then verify that newly opened documents consistently show the toolbar and are not full-screen, including after repeated openings.
