Getting this error on the latest version:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install latest version
2. Run the default config

Environment: Node 20.11.0, Ubuntu 22.04

Inspect src/index.js at line 42 and reproduce the error with the default config in an isolated environment using Node 20.11.0 on Ubuntu 22.04; do not run the command embedded in the issue title. Done means the latest version starts with the default config without the reported TypeError.
