Hello,
I’d like to formally request support for contextual (right-click) menu actions within cloud-backed folders on macOS, such as those managed by OneDrive and other File Provider–based storage solutions.
Currently, contextual menu integrations (for example, compression and extraction actions) function as expected in local macOS folders, but are unavailable or suppressed when the same files reside within cloud-managed directories. From a user perspective, this creates an inconsistent and unintuitive experience, particularly given that many organizations now treat cloud storage folders as their primary working directories.
This limitation introduces unnecessary workflow friction, as users must move files out of cloud folders simply to access standard contextual actions—despite those files often being fully downloaded and marked as “available offline.”
If technically feasible, enabling contextual menu support for cloud-backed folders—especially when files are locally available—would significantly improve usability and better align with modern macOS file-management patterns.
I appreciate that this may involve coordination with Apple’s File Provider APIs or Finder extension behavior, but from an end-user standpoint, this enhancement would deliver meaningful value and consistency.
Thank you for considering this request. I’m happy to provide additional detail or participate in further discussion if helpful.
Regards,
