Mô tả

Hi — I'm a paid Claude subscriber trying to set up alpaca-mcp-server in Claude Desktop on Windows. After working carefully through the README's installation steps, I've concluded the published install path doesn't function on current Claude Desktop builds. Sharing here in case the detail is useful, and to ask about the roadmap.

Environment
- Claude Desktop (Windows), build updated May 10, 2026
- Python 3.14, uv installed via Astral's official installer
- claude_desktop_config.json is well-formed and contains the alpaca block exactly as the README shows
- Alpaca paper trading API keys, freshly rotated

What happens
- After a full restart of Claude Desktop (system tray → Quit, then reopen), no tools icon appears in chat
- The %APPDATA%\Claude\logs\ folder contains no mcp.log or mcp-server-alpaca.log — Claude Desktop never attempts to start the server
- A separate MCP server I have installed via Claude Desktop's Extensions UI (Windows-MCP, located in %APPDATA%\Claude\Claude Extensions\) starts cleanly and logs normally
- The mcpServers section of claude_desktop_config.json appears to be silently ignored in this build

What this version of Claude Desktop supports
- Desktop Extensions (.mcpb files) — one-click installs that land in the Claude Extensions folder
- Custom Connectors — remote MCP servers added via Customize → Connectors using a URL plus OAuth (this is how FireCrawl, GitHub, and similar services connect today)

Request
Is there a roadmap for publishing alpaca-mcp-server as either:
1. A .mcpb desktop extension that can be installed with one click from Claude Desktop, or
2. A hosted remote MCP server with OAuth that can be added through Customize → Connectors?

Either path would make the server usable for non-developer Claude subscribers. The current README, while technically valid for older Claude Desktop builds, doesn't work for new installs.

Thanks for building this — looking forward to using it once a compatible install path exists.
