normally you will have to go to 'send keys' 'send up' etc. but without a
physical keyboard, this is very tedious

Which VNC server/version are you using? On which platform? TightVNC on Win 7

What is the size of the desktop you are trying to access? 1920x1080

What device are you using? HTC Desire

Are you using a custom ROM? If so, which? Defrost 4.1

Start by locating the existing “send keys” and “send up” controls in the Android VNC viewer and trace how they send input. Done means users without a physical keyboard can invoke arrow-key actions on screen; verify the behavior against the reported TightVNC on Windows setup.
