Research direction

Start by reviewing the reverse-dependency check referenced in the issue and identify which packages fail when ARMA_64BIT_WORD is enabled. Determine a compatibility approach that supports extended ranges without breaking those packages; done means the relevant reverse-dependency failures are resolved.

Written by the indexing model from the issue text.

Description

ARMA_64BIT_WORD is useful for extended ranges and longer indices beyond the scope of a 32-bit integer. A reverse-dependency check is revealing that we cannot enforce it as a few dozen packages fail.
