Our radio chips (CC1120/CC1200) support lots of things beside just telemetry using Frequency Shift-keying (FSK), similar to FM radio. They can also just output a tone, which you can pick up with any sort of radio -- and if you put your handheld radio in AM mode, you can find your rocket by finding where it's loudest. Could be cool to look into, would require the rocket to be put into a mode to transmit tones, and some sort of groundstation or handheld radio that can output signal strength (or just audio tone, maybe)
