Screens remain blank on Mint 21 Acer Aspire R5 Intel graphics card

I installed the debian installer from this repo.

**lsusb** shows the adapter and **xrandr --listproviders** shows multiple displays (see below) but the displays do not show up when I open the "Displays" app that comes wth Mint. The one used to configure multiple displays.

The screens do display the "Universal Graphics Adapter" message, but then stay blank and go into power saving mode.

When I remove the adapter and plug the screen into an HDMI port, it works. (I only have one HDMI port and plan on having two external screens)

When I tried the solution at https://github.com/AdnanHodzic/displaylink-debian/issues/228#issuecomment-467889348 there was no change

When I tied the solution at https://github.com/AdnanHodzic/displaylink-debian/issues/236#issuecomment-471213411 I lost my GUI (thankfully command line still worked so I could restore the backed up config file)

Start with docs/post-install-guide.md and docs/common-issues.md, then inspect /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-displaylink.conf and the DisplayLink service setup. Reproduce the report with xrandr --listproviders on the stated Mint, kernel, and Intel graphics setup. Done means the external displays appear in the Displays app and no longer remain blank or enter power saving.
