Start by reviewing the event-handler behavior described in issue #76 and the linked pull request #73. Identify how hooks are represented for existing events, especially close, and define the supported before/after behavior across event handlers. Done means the requested hooks work consistently for the relevant events and are covered by the project’s tests.
