Description

Description

Transforming a view with perspective and transformOrigin to achieve 3d-effects is working perfectly on iOS, but not on android.

This has probably something to do with the normalization of camera perspectives: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/blob/7b7c45030ba6ae196b89f0fb8615d184a261cd4a/packages/react-native/ReactAndroid/src/main/java/com/facebook/react/uimanager/BaseViewManager.java#L599

I would be very thankful for possible workarounds.

Steps to reproduce
  1. Create a RN App using cli or Expo
  2. Add a View which is transformed with origin and perspective

const {width, height} = Dimensions.get('window');

export default function App() {
  return (
    <View
      style={{
        width,
        height,
        backgroundColor: 'red',
        transformOrigin: [0, height / 2, 0],
        transform: [
          {perspective: width},
          {rotateY: '45deg'}],
      }}>
      <Text>test</Text>
    </View>
  );
}```

Research direction

Reproduce the Android and iOS difference with the linked Expo Snack using React Native 0.77.0. Start by inspecting ReactAndroid/src/main/java/com/facebook/react/uimanager/BaseViewManager.java around line 599, where perspective normalization is suspected. Compare the resulting transform behavior across platforms; done means transformOrigin and perspective produce matching 3D results on Android.
