Unable to find viewState for tag 56. Surface stopped: false

Description

Seeing similar error to the one here https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/38743 but have a reproducible example.

Use case is to change some styles of a tab bar when going to a new stack screen. Then when user goes back to the tab screen with tab bar there will be some styling update ex. fade in.

I am seeing these two parts are necessary to trigger the error:

Start with the linked view-state-issue reproducer and the App.tsx locations at lines 83 and 136, then trace the stacktrace through SurfaceMountingManager.getViewState and updateLayout. Reproduce the Android sequence—push twice, then go back twice—and verify that it no longer raises the missing viewState exception.
