Description

We can set the fill colour using the fillcolor parameter which accepts colour names and rgb values. This, however, only allows single colours. Is there an easy way to make gradient colours? Below is what I'm actually trying to achieve:

Research direction

Start by reviewing the existing fillcolor parameter and the gradient effect shown in the linked screenshot. Determine which plotting traces and rendering paths would need to support gradient colors, then define the supported inputs and behavior. Done means users can create the requested gradient fill through a documented, tested interface.
