Hover text not working with table

This may be an issue with code or with documentation, but hover text doesn't work with a table if you follow the documentation

hoverinfo
Parent: data[type=table]
Type: flaglist string. Any combination of "x", "y", "z", "text", "name" joined with a "+" OR "all" or "none" or "skip".
Examples: "x", "y", "x+y", "x+y+z", "all"
Default: "all"
Determines which trace information appear on hover. If none or skip are set, no information is displayed upon hovering. But, if none is set, click and hover events are still fired.

This example in codepen is based on my understanding of the above documentation but if you move the mouse over the cell, nothing pops up.

Where is a fix required:

• in plotly.js table implementation
• in the documentation
• in my example?

In any case if the error is with my example, other users in plotly forums and in stackoverflow have a similar issue.
