Double clicks not recognized through the trackpad

I've seen a number of issues/bug reports concerning double click behavior, both here on GitHub and on Stack Overflow.

For my part, I noticed that none of the double click gestures were being picked up--in particular, double click to restore zoom level, or double click on legend to hide all other traces.

I observed this behavior while using my laptop's trackpad. However, when I plugged in a mouse, double clicks using that device were recognized just fine. I don't have trouble double clicking using the trackpad in other applications.

I know this issue report is kind of general, and doesn't really zero in on where the problem lies, but I thought I'd throw in this bit of information in case it helps in diagnosing.
