Description

In this pen https://codepen.io/nicolaskruchten/pen/MWjbbmj if you double-click repeatedly after first load, things seem fine.

If you then change the ranges somehow (pan, zoom, whatever) then double-clicking repeatedly alternates between two different sets of ranges.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the behavior in the linked CodePen, MWjbbmj, using repeated double-clicks before and after panning or zooming. Trace the range and inside-tick behavior that causes alternating results, and consider the issue done when repeated double-clicks produce consistent ranges after the view has changed.
