Description

The {ggstar} package provides useful additional shapes in ggplots with the geom_star function. If support for this could be added within ggplotly, that would be very useful.

Minimal reprex:

mtcars %>%
  ggplot(aes(x=qsec, y=mpg)) +
  geom_point() +
  geom_star(data=mtcars[mtcars$mpg==max(mtcars$mpg),], #Add star at highest mpg value
            aes(x=qsec, y=mpg),
            color="black", fill="yellow", size=8, alpha=1)

Research direction

Start with the provided minimal reprex and the ggplotly entry point, then inspect how existing ggplot2 geoms are supported. Done means the geom_star layer from ggstar renders correctly in the resulting interactive plot, including its star shape and mapped styling.
