MariaDB 11.8 added the PARSEC (Password Authentication using Response Signed with Elliptic Curve) authentication plugin.

PARSEC can be seen as an enhancement of the ED25519 authentication plugin. There is already a feature request for ED25519:

Currently the PARSEC authentication is unsupported in PHP mysqlnd:
mysqli_sql_exception: The server requested authentication method unknown to the client [parsec] in parsec-connect.php on line 20
