Description

There were already some default values. Should we group these somewhere more visible? even only the top of the script with some description of their uses

Research direction

The issue refers to defaults and unused functions but does not name files, functions, tests, or which defaults should be deprecated. Start by reviewing the discussion in PR #270 and trace the referenced defaults and functions in the package; clarify the intended scope before making changes. Done should mean the agreed defaults and unused functions are addressed, with relevant tests passing.
