Description

Following new InPort Guidance - create a PAM SI Data Management Plan

  • Loop in data managers from each center's PAM group
  • some combo of general (all centers) and specific (regional differences) planning

InPort Data Management Plan Definition - A Data Management Plan (DMP) is a document which describes how data will be handled and managed throughout its lifecycle, including such details as acquisition, collection, processing, access, protection, and preservation, which could cover a dataset, or a group of datasets, as long as they are managed in the same way (see the following examples: Active Acoustics Strategic Initiative DMP, Optics Strategic Initiative DMP). According to the NOAA Data Management Handbook, the primary goal of data management planning is "to ensure that all parties involved have common expectations and coordinate data plan execution to ensure proper documentation, accessibility, and preservation for future use."
