Your idea

Add the following instruments to the instrument list:

  • Charango (Guitar-like instrument used in many south american countries)
  • Requinto (Smaller guitar tuned a perfect fourth above the normal guitar, used in many countries, usually made to perform melodic lines, "Punteo")
  • Rabel (Bowed String instrument, typically used to accompany voices)
  • Cuatro (Another guitar-like instrument, it has lots of variants depending on the country you look at)
  • Guitarrón (Another one, also has variants for different countries but the Chilean and Mexican are pretty common)
  • Lots of native and introduced-then-adapted percussion instruments (I would love if someone more experienced lists some more on the same line that are also commonly used)
  • Many more I can't remember right now (Same as above)
Problem to be solved

MuseScore lacks a lot of instruments commonly used in traditional music, especially in Latin America, which makes us resort to extra steps and workarounds to set up our ensembles correctly, I know there are probably no sounds for many of these instruments in MS Basic but I'm sure no one would have an issue if they get mapped to similar sounds (Guitar, Violin, Flute, Drums, etc.) until (hopefully) a Muse Sounds release covers them (this would make a lot of people around the world really happy)

Prior art

I think Sibelius doesn't have these instruments on the list either? I'm not sure, no idea about the other software but I doubt they include them either...

Additional context

As you may notice, this issue lacks a lot of detail, unfortunately I'm not an expert in this kind of music so I would love if more people help me make it better. 😁
