Description

I can successfully download a file or folder if sending the request through a web browser.

But using the SDK, nothing happened though get_item returned the right object.
item = git_client.get_item(repo.id, path="/folder1/folder2/file3.txt", download=True)

Research direction

Start with the Git client get_item call shown in the issue and compare its download behavior with the two Azure DevOps REST URLs. Check how the SDK exposes the returned item or response stream, then verify that file and repository downloads produce usable content rather than only an item object.
