That documentation states that the notificationOptions object is optional.
https://www.mapbox.com/android-docs/plugins/overview/offline/#add-the-offline-plugin
When you run the application without notificationOptions, you see:
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Missing required properties: notificationOptions
It should be possible to use the plugin without displaying notifications.
