Cannot update expired key

My key has expired quite a while ago. I have updated it locally (extended the expiry date) with no problems and also published to a public OpenPGP server.

I a not able to update my key on keybase. When using the web UI "Update my key (I edited elsewhere)", pasting the public key block I get the following error message:
*Error: Your private key appears corrupted (no valid primary key self-signature or key(s) have expired)*

When trying to download the keybase app and logging in, I get "Invalid argument: no valid signing keys". When trying the commandline and trying to update the PGP keys, I always get "Invalid argument: no valid signing keys" as well. I can't register this laptop as a new device as I have never used it before and apparently can't register it because I don't have a valid signing key.

How to I update my expired key in keybase?

Start with the web UI's “Update my key (I edited elsewhere)” flow and the command-line PGP key update path described in the report, reproducing the “no valid signing keys” errors with an expired key whose expiry was extended externally. Done means the updated key is accepted and the user can log in or register the laptop as a new device.
