Descrição

A while back @SylvainCorlay brought up the question of having a more flexible and reusable visual design language for IPython and related projects (ipywidgets, ipyleaflet, ipyvolume, etc.). Some of these projects are maintained by jupyter/ipython and some are third party. The idea is to create a visual identity that clearly communicates IPython itself, but has variants that can be used by other projects in the ecosystem as well. At this prompt, myself, @tgeorgeux and the Cal Poly Jupyter design interns (4
of them!) have done explorations of different possibilities and have come up with a proposed design that includes:

* A new logo for IPython itself
* A template for variants that other projects can use. The template is friendly to both plain text implementations as well as vector drawn graphic versions.
* A openly available font face to make it easy for others to create brand compliant variants
* Color choices that work well on light or dark backgrounds.

I am pleased to bring to all of you their proposal (attached as a png) that includes a description of some of the things that were explored and reasons for the final choices. We are more than willing to share our working documents and detailed explorations with those interested and have more details discussions or a walk through of our process.

Let use this issue to collect feedback, but I will also post to the ipython-dev and Jupyter group to let folks know.
