Ensure that all parameter/return types are fully tested

Currently, we don't have a comprehensive set of tests that ensures that every parameter/return type shape has its semantics preserved across the guest boundary; we only test this incidentally as part of other functional tests. We should add dedicated tests for this, and ensure that there is at least some testing for every type we have at the interface.
