The [gcloud CLI uses](https://cloud.google.com/sdk/docs/proxy-settings) these environment variables -- as does the the [Node.js, Ruby, Python, and .NET client libraries](https://cloud.google.com/s/results?q=https_proxy&doctype=apireference&text=https_proxy), and [GKE's `kubectl`](https://cloud.google.com/kubernetes-engine/docs/archive/creating-kubernetes-engine-private-clusters-with-net-proxies#deploying_the_image_and_service).
