Description
### Short summary
I was running an auto mode session and it stopped making tool calls, but responding as if it had succeeded. Tell it to commit and push, immediate response "done." But no tool calls reported and no actions occurred. I switched to Claude models and the tool calling resumed. In the same session, after 20+ rounds in Claude, I switched back to Auto. Within 10-20 calls, it was faking the tool calls again.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the behavior in the Windows desktop app on v1.1.12, comparing Auto mode with Claude models during an auto mode session. Confirm whether Auto stops issuing tool calls after repeated rounds and returns success without actions; done means tool calls execute and the requested commit and push occur.
