As the number of chats increases, the items below the group management section get cut off, so I would like to specify a maximum number of items to display (e.g., the 10 nearest ones).

Start at the /chat view and reproduce the layout with enough chats to make items below group management get cut off. Define and implement a maximum visible-item count, using the suggested 10 nearest chats as the expected behavior; done means the lower content remains usable when chat counts grow.
