It seems like if you have two github accounts registered (like a public one and an EMU one) and you change teh default identity it puts existing chats in a weird temporary state that ignores new chat messages (and the fork chat button doesn't work) until you go into the settings for that specific project and change the account for that project specifically.

Start by reproducing the issue on macOS 26.6.0 with a public GitHub account and an EMU account: change the default identity, then inspect an existing chat and try sending a message or using the fork chat button. Done means existing chats continue accepting messages and fork chat works without changing the account in that project's settings.
