Description
Congratulations to the team on the GA4GH approval, good to see this moving forward.
Please see https://github.com/CBIIT/ccdi-dcc-model/blob/2234f4321e1980c65754ca71f17140e08e2ea29d/model-desc/ccdi-dcc-model.yml#L416-L474 for reference to the CCDI-DCC sequencing_file node. This node has been generalized to contain properties for mutliple sequencing strategy types (whole genome, targeted sequencing, transcriptomics, etc.) This approach makes it easier to discover and compare sequencing assay data from different types, all derived from the same sample or participant, by organizing them within a graph database structure that defines similar metadata. Enumerated values and type information for properties can be viewed in the property YAML file https://github.com/CBIIT/ccdi-dcc-model/blob/main/model-desc/ccdi-dcc-model-props.yml.
Happy to share lessons learned and explore alignment as these experiment categories continue to evolve.

Research direction
Start by reviewing the referenced sequencing_file node in model-desc/ccdi-dcc-model.yml and the enumerated values and type information in model-desc/ccdi-dcc-model-props.yml. Compare those experiment categories with the current experiments-metadata checklist and clarify the desired alignment. Done means the categories and metadata expectations are defined and agreed upon.
