RiotX community direct message view has different functionality than Riot Web

Tulir wrote new functionality for the Whatsapp bridge that groups all whatsapp-bridged direct messages and group chats into a 'whatsapp' community. On desktop, Riot displays everything correctly like this:


but on riotx (and old riot android) there are no chats displayed in the DM view because the users are not 'in' the community but rather bridged users:
