Currently you're able to choose your data split strategy in advanced data options.
Since the validation dataset is used to tune the hyperparamters in AutoML, the purpose of the "validation" dataset in the code-behind should then be to evaluate the model predictions. Therefore the code should go in the *.evaluate.cs file.
