Research direction

Start by tracing the existing WithTag() feature and the DbContext.Database entry point mentioned in the request. Determine how a global WithTagBehavior.Ignore setting would affect tagged queries, and identify the relevant tests for verifying that comments are omitted while the default behavior remains unchanged.

Description

area-query customer-reported

The new WithTag() in EFCore 2.2 is a great feature (#12669). However, a developer might want to see the comments only during debugging and tracing scenarios, hidding them in normal operations.

Feature Request: Please allow a global setting in the DbContext to ignore all WithTag() comments, e.g.

context.Database.WithTagBehavior = WithTagBehavior.Ignore;
