Description

Currently, conda-forge publishes its binaries only on Anaconda servers. That was perfectly fine, until Anaconda changed the repo server's TOS to longer make usage universally free of charge. Currently, restrictions are limited to "large" companies (>200 employees) but it's not clear whether further restrictions will follow.

Has it been considered to publish conda-forge-produced binaries to an additional server that could function as a free alternative to repo.anaconda.com? There seems to be an open source conda package server in development (https://github.com/mamba-org/quetz) that could be used. Of course, hosting sponsorship would have to be arranged.

Is there anything else that stands in the way of making conda free again? I've seen surprisingly little discussion out in the open regarding views on Anaconda's TOS change. What makes the move so non-surprising and/or non-controversial?
