dense usage line

I'd like to list all the options in one line. Is this possible? Manpages call this the synopsis. Some examples:

Start by locating the command usage/help rendering entry point and examining how option definitions are currently formatted. Compare its output with the synopsis examples in the issue; done means supporting an optional dense, single-line usage representation without losing the available options.
