Console input is insanely slow

I haven't yet looked into why, but keyboard input takes seconds to arrive which seems far slower than the rest of the execution speed. This looks like a bug.

Start by reproducing the reported keyboard-input delay in the Dromajo console and compare input latency with the emulator's execution speed. Trace the console-input path to identify the source of the delay, then verify that keyboard input arrives promptly during normal execution.
