Description

See image.sc issue - https://forum.image.sc/t/brainreg-error-when-checking-orientation-value-error-axes-dont-match-array/83794/9

In general though, we should rethink how the plugin works (e.g. it should operate directly on the layer, not on the data on disk).

Research direction

Start with the linked image.sc discussion, then inspect the plugin flow that loads registered images and handles voxel sizes. Clarify whether the completed work is voxel-size rescaling, operating directly on the layer rather than disk data, or a broader redesign; agreement on scope and a reproducible validation case are needed before implementation.
