Description

Hey there! Would you be interested in an implementation with `libdwfl` from `elfutils`? This would provide filenames and line numbers, similar to what is advertised for `libbacktrace`. However, at least Fedora repos do not seem to have `libbacktrace`, and I do not want to build it manually. I do not know about other distros.

If there is interest, I would prepare a patch.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the existing libbacktrace support and the project’s handling of platform-specific stacktrace backends. Then investigate libdwfl from elfutils and its availability across the distributions mentioned; the issue needs a maintainer decision on scope and support expectations before implementation can be considered done.
