Inspiration: medical ultrasound interface

I recently had the chance to play with a medical multibeam sonar, which didn't have the _nicest_ interface, but did have some options we likely haven't thought much about. I figure if they're useful in practical medical contexts then they may be useful in our contexts, so throwing this here in case we want to dig more into the ideas it represents at some point in future :-)


The issue provides only an image and general inspiration; it names no files, tests, or entry points to inspect. First define which interface ideas are relevant to Ping Viewer and agree on a concrete scope and completion criteria before implementation can begin.
