描述
I know the instructions say that installing Xcode from the App store is "bleeding edge". I would like to suggest that a couple of fixes that I needed to do to Macports, be listed or linked from these instructions to save others' time.
The first is the bit about having to start up Xcode and install the command-line tools, as described here:
http://guide.macports.org/#installing.xcode.lion
After this, I kept getting messages about "your gcc (3.2.6) is too old". I had to Google the error message to find the fix, on the top of the Problem Hotlist for Macports at https://trac.macports.org/wiki/ProblemHotlist :
sudo xcode-select -switch /Applications/Xcode.app
Maybe the thing to do, is to put the links to these two bits in the Python installation instructions? Maybe there ought to be a little section on what to do if you installed everything on Snow Leopard and have just upgraded to Lion?
