Start by reproducing the asdf install python 3.6.8 failure on the reported macOS 12.5.1 setup and inspect the python-build log, especially the clang++ and platform-triplet configure error. Compare it with the successful 3.7.8–3.11.3 installs; done means Python 3.6.8 installs successfully through asdf.
