We've seen spark job stucked with following trace:

Research direction

Start at parquet.hadoop.ParquetFileReader.readFooter and ParquetRecordReader.initializeInternalReader, then trace the Hadoop FileSystem cache calls shown in the stack trace. Reproduce the Spark job behavior and determine whether repeated filesystem initialization is occurring. Done means the cache behavior is understood and the reported stall is resolved or clearly ruled out with a regression test.
