[Feature Request] Improve browser and UI interaction performance

Interacting with browser and UI is too fucking slow.

The issue gives no files or tests; the only concrete entry point is the telemetry error for VirtualMessageList itemKeys/messages length desync in version 2.1.236 on darwin in the VS Code terminal. First try to reproduce the slow browser/UI interaction and the desync error. Done is not well-defined until maintainers narrow the expected performance change or the specific UI bug to fix.
