stable channel has not advanced past 2.1.236 since Aug 19, against a documented cadence of about one week

The stable release channel stopped advancing after 2.1.236, released 2026-08-19.

The setup docs say stable is "typically about one week old" (Configure release channel, https://code.claude.com/docs/en/setup). The gap is now 17 days and 25 releases.

Every stable surface is affected. `claude-code-releases/stable` returns 2.1.236. `rpm/stable` and `apt/stable` serve 2.1.236. The matching `latest` surfaces serve 2.1.261, updated 2026-09-04.

Stable metadata last regenerated 2026-09-01 without a new version. That run appears to have added the aarch64 rpm.

Impact: signed apt/dnf/apk installs with the stable baseurl see no upgrade. The stall is silent, so it looks identical to being current. Features shipped after 2.1.236 are unavailable, including current model support.

Is promotion stuck, or is 2.1.236 an intentional hold over regressions? If intentional, please surface long holds in the CHANGELOG so users can tell.

Trace the 2026-09-01 stable metadata regeneration and the apt, rpm, and apk surfaces. Done means stable promotion resumes on the documented cadence, or an intentional hold is explained in the CHANGELOG.
