ankidroid directory is inaccessible

im running android 13.
i forgot what ankidroid version i was last on before i upgraded. i was pretty sure it had fsrs though.
so when i updated to 2.22.3 arm64 v8a.apk i encountered the issue ankidroid directory is inaccessible
i checked settings page and it shows ankidroid directory is pointed to /storage/emulated/0/ankidroid

i tried one of the solution where i ran adb and give it read and write permission but still it doesnt work.
my collection isnt synched to the cloud and i also dont want to sync it to the cloud.

is there a solution that doesnt involve wiping the data and progress?
