unable to push

Hi,
$result = $repo->git("commit -m firstCommit"); - This command is working fine.

But when I have push my changes in to remote repository by using following method, I won't get any response. I don't know where I went wrong..

$result = $repo->git("push --all"); - Is this correct way to push changes??
